Synopsis:

HE was the chief’s cousin…

Namoriee knew the only way to protect herself against the blond-haired gentle giant was to stay away. The way her heart pounded and her insides fluttered when he was near could only lead to disaster.

Two years ago he made a promise to her that she never thought he intended to keep.

She was wrong.

SHE was the handmaiden…

Tyronian wanted Namoriee even when he knew he couldn’t have her. The need to possess her was so deep, it took every ounce of mental and physical strength he had to keep the promise he made to her that stormy night.

He promised he would wait until she was older.

He promised her two years.

But now… time’s up.

Namoriee wants nothing to do with him but he has no plans on stopping until she’s in his bed, and he’s in her heart.

She will be his. Forever.

Whether she likes it or not.

Review:
Intense. Dominant. Erotic.

When I first started reading How the Warrior Claimed, I was not sure about it. The names sounded a little sci-fi to me (and I don’t like sci-fi). However, was I in for a surprise. This story was intense while being romantic. There is just enough action, some back history, and romance that I was unable to put the book down. The main character, Tyronian, is a dominant male that knows who he wants and is willing to wait for it. He had extreme patience. Naimoree had been hurt and had many issues that she needed to work out – little did she know Tyronian was the man to help her and show her just how good she is. I liked that the author centered this story on Tyronian and Naimoree yet had characters from the first book. I thought the author did a great job of intertwining the characters while not making them the center of attention but played a significant part in this story. I am now curious to the first book to see their story because the little hints and teases to them sounds intriguing. The book is intense, erotic and will leave you wanting more.

This is the first book that I have read by Nicole Rene and will certainly not be my last. I was not disappointed at all. This book is as a standalone however, I would recommend reading the first one to get a good feel of the relationship of Xavier and Leawyn. For no other reason then by the time you finish this book you will go grab the first one. I recommend How the Warrier Claimed to anyone that enjoys reading erotic historical with a dominant man and a strong woman.
