Synopsis:
A bizarre
misfortune… An insightful baroness… Is it truly an accident? Or could it be
murder?
Recently retired from public duties, Lady Marcie Winston-Browne has found a new purpose in assisting others. With a keen interest in village affairs and with no children of her own to speak of, Marcie - and her husband, Lord Harry Winston-Browne - are more than content to contribute to village life: they are, after all, godparents to half the tiny rural village of Stowe.
When Janet Fleet - a well-liked, if unusual, young woman - is found dead in what appears to be a car accident, Marcie can’t help but feel that something foul is afoot. As the last person to see Janet alive, Marcie is determined to reveal the truth behind the peculiar death. Not only for Janet’s sake - but also for the sake of the daughter Janet was forced to leave behind.
Haunted by a terrible sense of guilt for failing to stop the murder before it began, Marcie embarks on a winding lane of deceptions, conspiracies, and plots to uncover the secret behind a ruthless killer. But can she find the person responsible? Or with this cruel killer get away with more than just one murder?
Can Lady Winston-Browne discover the real truth behind Janet Fleet’s death?
Or will she be left with not one, but two, bodies on her conscience?

Review:
A fun light suspenseful read!
This book was a little different from the
other books I have read by this author. It didn’t capture my attention the way
that the others have. The characters are well developed and interesting. Carrie
does a good job of creating a unique story. Carrie has wrote a book that is suspenseful
and will keep you guessing until the very end. This book is well written and pleasing.
This is a good book to enjoy when you are
looking for some suspense and a quick light read. I have had the pleasure to
read several books by Carrie Marsh. If you want a book that is a light read
with some mystery, then this is the book for you.
