Never underestimate a country girl!

When Deena Sharpe gets fed up and quits her teaching job after thirty years, she has no idea she’s just traded in lesson plans for lethal weapons, gradebooks for guns, and report cards for ballistics reports.

It all starts when a Texas sheriff’s deputy uncovers a 50-year-old skeleton in the closet—literally. Deena’s family turns to her to solve the murder mystery. But as she tries to unravel family secrets with the help of her quirky brother, she discovers someone else is interested in the case, and this mystery man will stop at nothing to prove his conspiracy theory is true.

With car chases and ghosts in the night, the story will keep you guessing as you follow Deena on her quest for the truth. A dog, a cat, a secret message, and a spaghetti supper at church: this clean cozy mystery has it all.

Review:

A witty light cozy mystery!

Sharpe Shooter is a cozy mystery that follows Deena as she tries to uncover the truth behind her uncle’s murder. I was interested in this book because it was set in Texas. I like reading books with places that I know mentioned in them. I liked how the author mixed in mystery with history to create a unique and enjoyable read.

Lisa Thomas has wrote a witty and adventurous mystery with a very intriguing plot that will keep you guessing at each turn. The characters are engaging and well developed. The story contained a good amount of descriptions of how they go about their normal activities that helped make them appear realistic and connectable.

Madeline Mrozek did a good job with narrating the story. She was easy to understand and gave good articulation. She did a good job of bringing the story to life and keeping you entertained.

Sharpe Shooter is part of a series however, it can be read as a stand-a-lone and you do not feel that you are missing anything. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a light and fun mystery that will keep you guessing all the way through.
